Takht-i-Bahi

The Buddhist monastery ruin Takht-i-Bahi from the 1st century B.C. is located on a 152 m high mountain about 15 km northeast of Mardan in northern Pakistan. During the time of Kanishka (1st century AD) the monastery experienced its greatest flourishing and was not abandoned until the 7th century AD. Since 1980 the monastery is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

During the visit there I found new friends from Pakistan and the USA, who insisted to pay the entrance fee for me. Another example of the famous Pakistani hospitality.
