Mysterious Construction
After completing the Bezoar Goat Trail, I want to descend into the valley to visit the Noravank Monastery.
So I drive down the same pass road that I had come up before. But this time I see in a serpentine loop suddenly for a short moment out of the corner of my eye a very strange construction in a nearby gorge. I had the impression that it was a huge wooden construction or something similar.
Having become curious, I look out for a turnoff or a dirt road or something similar that leads in the direction of the construction and actually find it at about half the height of the pass road. A small dirt road leads directly into the direction of the gorge. So I turn left and follow the path.
When I finally arrive at the strange "thing", there is a small, unpaved place in front of it. A lot of garbage is lying around and at the side there is a small improvised bench.
A closer look reveals that it is not a wooden construction, but thin concrete elements that have been layered like a honeycomb and thus form a kind of dam, but which remind more of a shelf or scaffolding than really a wall.
Despite a closer look, I can't make any sense of what this strange construction is for or what its purpose might be.
As a "dam" it is too fragile and too perforated. As a "scaffold" it is too massive and who builds a reinforced concrete scaffold? It doesn't make sense as a bridge, because there is nothing left and right of the canyon and besides there is neither a roadway nor a pipeline on the upper side. As a "work of art" it is too hidden and far away from all tourist places.
There is also absolutely nothing near by - neither a factory, building site, mining area nor anything similar - that would possibly shed more light on the meaning and purpose of this construction.
To this day I have not been able to find a conclusive explanation for this mysterious construction.
If you have any idea what this could be, please let me know!
