Mgvimevi Monastery
The Mgvimevi Monastery is located near the city of Chiatura, spectacularly overlooking the Kvirila River on a steep rocky slope. A long tunnel leads to the first large natural cave where a spring emerges.
At the edge of the cave a small church was built in the 8th century, which was partly carved into the side of the cliff. The rest of the monastery complex consists of a two-storey bell tower and a building with monastery cells from the 12th and 14th centuries.
