Dschwari Monastery

Thanks to its exposed location high above the town of Mtskheta, the Georgian Orthodox monastery Dschwari from the 6th century is widely visible.
Legend says that St. Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia, erected a cross on the present site of the monastery as early as the 4th century A.D..

Today the monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
